About Catch A Northwest Wave
Our documentary, “Catch a Northwest Wave”, was initially conceived, as the Beach Boys song goes, “Let’s Get Back Together and Do It Again”! But, as we progressed, we realized it was that and more...we were recording the history and the lifestyle of surfing in NW Washington so it would not be lost to time.
In the 1960’s our generation experienced some of the most revolutionary and exhilarating times in lifestyles of the surfing, music and car cultures. NW Washington was not immune to any of these. Beyond surfing, we danced to the live rock & roll music of the Kingsmen (Louie, Louie), Paul Revere and the Raiders, Merrilee Rush and many others at the Aberdeen Armory, the Vasa Hall in Hoquiam, the Silver Seagull and Pat O’Day’s Dunes dance hall in Westport. Of course many of us remember the fabulous Beach Boys concert at the Hoquiam High School Gymnasium in February of 1964. We were fortunate to have experienced a kind of freedom that was new and unique to our generation!
We hope this documentary will help you experience and feel the joy of the surfing, the music and car cultures of our times. Go ahead...get out there and Catch a NW Wave!! And for those of you from the 60’s...let’s get back together and do it again!!
